Hello! I’m Nancy — a writer and artist from the far south-east coast of Australia, creating from the subtle, symbolic, and often unspoken layers of experience. Born on Yuin Country and shaped by salt, wind, and the hush of eucalyptus forests, I’ve always been drawn to threshold places — the psychological, the symbolic, the mythic underside of ordinary life.
I studied Art History, Archaeology, and Romantic Literature, and those threads run through everything I create. For years my work lived in the realm of intuitive and symbolic art — oracle cards, colouring books, spirit portraits. I was fascinated by how imagery, archetype, and metaphor help us understand the inner worlds we don’t always have words for.
These days, my practice is shifting into slower, deeper territory. I’m writing fiction and essays, exploring the intersections of psyche, nature, memory, and the uncanny. I believe in grounded mysticism: intuition without theatrics, symbolism without dogma, meaning without superstition. I work in the space where emotional truth becomes image, and where the unsaid becomes story.
My current creative home is The Velvet Em-Dash, my Substack about literature and the creative life, and I’m also working on my debut novel — a gothic literary fiction set on a remote Tasmanian coast.
I live in a heritage cottage between the rainforest and the continent’s edge, a few doors down from the cemetery on the hill, surrounded by too many books, a garden that grows faster than I can keep up with, and an ever-growing curiosity about the quiet mysteries of being human.
